Say you remembered the party but forgot the hostess gift. Oops! Happens to the best of us! What to do – Check out Pragmatic Mom’s Tips for keeping your sanity and all you need is a trip to the grocery store. Really.
I get the easy way out – a trip to a gourmet store. If you are in or near Cambridge, then you probably know about Formaggio, good, go there. Anything they have is perfect or they will make it perfect for you. Really. Hi-Rise is around the corner and they have gorgeous jams and great wines. Again, you are all set – pick up a loaf of their bread or some desserts. No, you can’t bring a sandwich to the party but if you are smart you’ll eat one in the car on the way while your significant other drives. Never done this but haven’t ruled it out either.
Wellesley? Head to Wasik’s or as it is known, The Cheese Shop, another place that will set you up in no time. Wonderful staff, fantastic selection of cheese, wine, teas, candy and they make a mean gift basket, too. If you are already in Wellesley then head down a few doors to The Toy Store and fill in the kid’s gifts you need.
Tea and coffee? Head to L’Aroma Cafe in Newton – gorgeous teas, knowledgeable staff and wonderful work by local artists – you will be glad you did.
Not near or even close to these fine establishments? Check out Pragmatic Mom for what you can pick up at the grocery store.
Me? I always run out of time, gifts, memory, everything this time of year. Do yourself a favor – throw together a box or bag with some scotch tape, some ribbon and tissue or wrapping paper. Keep it in your car. You never know when you may need it.
