Keeping on Track

IMG_3586 Keeping On Track

Eating well, exercising, not eating too many of the baked goods from my own kitchen…these are all things that would help me stay healthy and I could use a little help. My daily walking group takes care of the exercise  – a group of us has been walking together every weekday morning for the past five years. We average 4 miles a walk and only (some of us) occasionally whine about the hills, cold or rain, yes, we walk in all kinds of weather – except if there is black ice – no one wants to break a hip :-)

So morning routine:

Get kids up and coax them into breakfast. Me? I don’t need to be coaxed into eating…ever.

Fortify myself with a cup of tea and something light (I am into Spirulina chunks – I know – anything called chunks, right? Yum.) from Whole Foods or avocado toast (toast bread and spread ripe avocado on it – you are good to go).

Pack lunches.

Get kids to school.

Get dog stuff together – treats, bags, leash.

Bundle up, it’s usually cold.

Meet friends for walk.

Share. Over share. Laugh. Repeat.

Back home for more refueling and sometimes to shower – sometimes right into errands or work.

Fueling up? I just found out hat Edible Arrangements is giving away free fruit salad (for the month of January) if you show your gym membership card. Sorry, it’s not dipped in chocolate but you can get some for later in the day while you’re there. Well, I’m out of luck, no gym membership but you go and save yourself from the mid morning sugar low that makes me think donuts.

More Fruit and Chocolate (Week 2 of the Scavenger Hunt)

More Fruit and Chocolate (Week 2 of the Scavenger Hunt and a Grand Prize $200 Amazon Gift Card)

The nice people at Edible Arrangements are running a scavenger hunt and the prize is chocolate dipped fruit! I am always about the share (especially when I get my own). So look for Summer Strawberry (I think it’s pretty hard to miss a person in strawberry costume and there are clues, too.

Wednesday, August 22 from 2 P.M.-4 P.M.

  • ‘Summer Strawberry’ will be stopping by the second largest city in New England on its tour of Massachusetts and New Hampshire! The city, which is about 40 miles west of Boston, was named after a city in England.
  • This city is home to 10 colleges and universities including College of the Holy Cross, Assumption College and a Massachusetts state university whose mascot is the Lancers.
  • Summer Strawberry’ will be visiting the Edible Arrangements store off of Rte. 122, in between Ingleside Avenue Historic Park and Lake Avenue.
  • The store is located in _________ Plaza, a plaza that is named after the town in Cape Cod that was made famous by the Kennedy’s vacation compound.
  • After stopping in to visit ‘Summer Strawberry,’ you can grab a slice at a popular pizza chain whose slogan is, ‘Better Ingredients. Better Pizza,’ or stop by a tax prep company located in the plaza.

Did you decipher the clues? Good, then head over there on Wednesday betwen2-4 pm. Too far from home? Can’t leave the beach? Stuck in a carpool line or back to school shopping? Here are other ways to win some prizes:

  1. Leave a comment below with the address/store location where Summer Strawberry will be this week.
  2. Go to the store and take a picture of Summer Strawberry. Email it to jkaye@carltonprmarketing.com for another entry.
  3. Go to the store, take your snap of Summer Strawberry. Follow @DoFruitNE on Twitter and tweet them the photo with the hashtag #ILoveFruit

Emailing a picture of ‘Summer Strawberry’ to jkaye@carltonprmarketing.com or commenting on this blog post the address/ store location where you found ‘Summer Strawberry’ will enter you to win the grand prize, a $200 Amazon gift card, or one of four arrangements !

Fun Scavenger Hunt from Edible Arrangements

Free Chocolate and Fruit?

It is true, I have a very difficult job (sigh). Sometimes I read books that people send me, and then write about them. Taxing. Then occasionally people send me food (more specifically chocolate) and I have to (sigh, again) taste and write some more. Again, grueling, but I’m up for it. Okay, before you stop reading…mostly, I am driving children to endless camps, lessons, activities, making dinner, doing laundry, running errands, and slowly becoming a working mom…so don’t mind when I get a bit of free chocolate, please. Plus I can tell you how to get your own free chocolate. See, I do play well with others!

So – How can free chocolate (and fruit) be yours?

Free Fruit and Fun!

Over the next four Wednesdays, The folks at Edible Arrangements are running a fun promotion/scavenger hunt. Here is the scoop for this week –

Wednesday, August 15 from 11 A.M.- 1 P.M.

  •  ‘Summer Strawberry’ will be stopping by the easternmost portion of Massachusetts which is a huge New England tourist destination, especially during the summer months!
  • This town has the initials ‘SY’ and is located between West Yarmouth and Dennis Port.
  • The first traffic rotary in the United States is in this village at the intersection of River Street and Pleasant Street.
  • This village is home to the Red Sox, no not the Boston Red Sox, the Red Sox that play in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
  • ‘Summer Strawberry’ will be at the Edible Arrangements store located in a plaza near a popular pizza chain that shares its name with a classic game (if you get this answer, you’re spot on!) and songs by Van Morrison and most recently, Jessie J.

Did you decipher the clues? Good, then head over there on Wednesday from 11 to 1.

Three ways to win – even one for those of you who can’t make it to the store. As a bonus, go to your local Edible Arrangements location between the hours of 11 – 1 pm and mention the Scavenger Hunt. You’ll get a box of dipped fruit!

You can have another chance at The Scavenger Hunt – it is happening over the next four weeks – so have fun! This particular contest is just for MA and Southern NH locations.
