The Mayor’s STEM Nights – Newton, MA

On Tuesday, October 21st, Mayor Warren will launch “The Mayor’s STEM Nights” series, a new initiative designed to spark Newton students’ interest in the STEM disciplines – science, technology, engineering and mathematics.  Each month, a different local STEM industry business will provide an exciting, hands-on experience for students to generate excitement in STEM, building on a larger city effort to engage students outside of the classroom.

“The Mayor’s STEM Nights” will kick-off on Tuesday, October 21st at 345 Walnut Street with free pizza at 6:00 p.m. and the program beginning at 6:30 p.m. Congressman Joe Kennedy III and local software company PTC will join Mayor Warren for the inaugural event.

Dear Residents,

Please join me this month as we launch the “Mayor’s STEM Nights” a new series designed to spark Newton students’ interest in the STEM disciplines – science, technology, engineering and mathematics.  By partnering with one STEM industry business each month, this series will provide students with an exciting, hands-on experience that will demonstrate the practical application of STEM beyond the classroom while building on a larger city effort to engage students outside of school.

The first of the “Mayor’s STEM Nights” will be held on Tuesday, October 21st at 345 Walnut Street in Newton.  Doors will open at 6:00 p.m. with free pizza and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m.  Mayor Warren and special guest, U.S. Congressman Joe Kennedy III will kick-off the evening followed by an interactive presentation by PTC, a local software company.  PTC employees will also be available to share their own stories and answer students’ questions.  All are welcome to attend.

I hope to see you on October 21st.  If you have any questions about the Mayor’s STEM Nights initiative or to RSVP to the first event, please contact Meaghan Maher, Director of Community Engagement, at mmaher@newtonma.gov or 617-796-1101.

Sincerely,
